"Reading is essential for those who seek to rise above the ordinary."

Conscious Consumption Is About More Than Just Food

It’s well known that the thoughts that swim around our heads all day have a everything to do with the influences in our lives. From the company we surround ourselves with, to the visual/audio/mental content we absorb, we are shaping not only the way we see the world but also how we feel about it. Just as we can be purposeful about the nutrition we put in our bodies, we can, and should, do the same for the brain food we consume from day to day.

Millionaries and billionaires alike, often keep libraries inside thier homes. Fun fact; the average CEO reads about 52 books a year. There is no doubt that highly successful people know the value of lifelong learning. Reading improves your focus, memory, empathy, and communication skills. It can reduce stress, improve your mental health, and even help you live longer.

This is why I encourage you to read (or listen to) as many non-fiction books as you can. I can guarantee that this simple habit will have a great impact on your life. Not only will you be consistently learning new things, that you actually want to learn, you will also become more successful in professional and personal relationships.

Every month I highlight one of my recent reads and tell you why I loved it, as well as how it has offered value to my life. Simply click on the book image to snag your own copy and enjoy the mental gains it provides!

Book of the month

Self-discipline is one of the key components to success in any aspect of life. Recognizing this, and also being honest with myself in how my own lack of self-discipline has effected the outcomes in my life, I've been absorbing as much content as I can in this area lately. No Excuses has been an excellent resource for leveling up on both a personal and professional level. With epiphany invoking concepts and easy-to-follow action items, I am inspired this month to do more, be more, and have more. An absolute must-read!
